I am very excited for the upcoming show at Joshua Liner Gallery in NY.

My first show in Chelsea area, and yes I am well prepared for it.  The show will be a two man show with another NY based Japanese painter, Mr. Tat Ito. Opening is going to be on the night of 13th, Feb. through Mar.13th.

来月、2月13日からNYはチェルシーの28丁目にあるギャラリー、Joshua Liner Gallery にて２人展を行います。Tat ItoさんというNYで活動している同年代のペインターとの２人展となります。

ALSO, couple of my friends back in Japan just launched an artist portal site, RED one Press.  It is a brilliant site where you can be updated with the art/street scene in Japan.

先月にサンフランシスコを拠点にcultureを広めているウェブマガジン、Fecal Face にてインタビュー記事を載せてもらいました。

RED one PRESS ///そして、東京で活動している仲間達がアーチストのポータルサイトをつい先日始めました。 僕の作品も紹介して頂きました。主に国内のグラフィティーや壁画アーチスト達に焦点を当てたサイトでのちのちは世界に発信できる様に英訳も付ける様です。東京のシーンも気になるし、個人的に好きなアーチスト達のインタビュー記事なんかもあり、大変充実したサイトです。

One of my piece will be included in the Juxtapoz Art Charity Auction starting Oct.28th to Nov.20th.

The auction was split up into two sessions due to the large number of art pieces, and mine was postponed to after Thanksgiving, sorry!

The bidding will take place online. Here The actual paintings will be shown in LA on Nov.14th.  The details are pasted in bellow.

JUXTAPOZ ART & CULTURE MAGAZINE TURNS 15 AND THROWS CHARITY ART AUCTION AND EVENT IN LOS ANGELES HOSTED BY UPPER PLAYGROUND

All Proceeds from the Event Support Power House Project of Detroit

WHY: Proceeds from “The Big Payback” auction will support the goal of purchasing five homes and employing local Detroit contractors, electricians, plumbers, and carpenters to perform the renovations. Selected artists will also be invited to participate in the remodeling. The event aims to raise the consciousness of both the problems of people disenfranchised by the nation’s economic crisis, as well as encourage a sense of community in the art world and inspire people to effect positive social change in their own communities.

WHO: Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine celebrates its 15th anniversary with “The Big Payback,” an online charity art auction and a special event in Los Angeles hosted by Upper Playground. The event benefits the non-profit Power House Project of Detroit.

WHAT: “The Big Payback” auction features original artwork from over 100 national and internationally renowned contemporary artists including: Matthew Barney, Swoon, CR Stecyk III, Robert Williams, Todd Schorr, Estevan Oriol, Mister Cartoon, Shepard Fairey, Doze Green, Todd “Reas” James, Thomas Campbell, Tim Biskup, KR, Big Daddy Roth, WK Interact, Clayton Brothers, Andrew Schoultz, James Jean, Ron English, Craola, David Choe, Mike Giant, Paul Insect, Jeremy Fish, Alex Pardee, Saber, David Ellis, Boogie, D*Face, Cody Hudson, Herbert Baglione.

All proceeds from the auction to be donated to the Power House Project to help purchase and renovate foreclosed and abandoned homes in the Detroit area.

In celebration of the auction and Juxtapoz’s 15th anniversary, Upper Playground will host an exclusive event in Los Angeles on November 14, 2009 to view the featured artwork on display and meet with the contributing artists.

Couple of weeks ago, I’ve received a mail from someone  in Spain who owns one of my painting.  The piece got some minor  parts fallen off from water damage, and he was asking me if I knew someone who can restore paintings.  I told him that I’ve been working as an art conservator for about 2 years, and he decided to ship me the painting.  When restoring some old paintings, I used to feel somewhat nostalgic, thinking about the original painters who probably has already passed away.  And that led me think of how my painting might be retouched by someone who I will never meet after several decades.   I felt very lucky to rework on my own painting, which I thought I will never see again.

先月、スペイン在住の人からメールが届いた。彼は僕のペインティングを所有されている方で、どうやらその絵が何らかの水害にあってしまい、少量ではあるがペイントが剥がれてきてしまっているらしい。そして、絵を修復するにあたって、どこか心当たりは無いだろうかと言う様な内容だった。僕は２年程前からチェルシー地区にある絵の修復スタジオにて働いているので作品を送ってもらう事になった。普段修復する絵は100年程前の物が多く、自然と劣化してしまった様な物が多いが水害や火害にあった新しい絵も稀に見る。ほとんどの絵の制作者はもう既にこの世には居ないというケースが多いので働き始めた頃は、色々な事が脳裏を横切りながら修復をしていた様に思う。最近はすっかり慣れてしまい、あまりそういう事は考えなく成ったが、誰かが描いた作品が人の手に渡り、そしてまたいつかどこかの修復家の手によって手を加えられる事実を目の当たりにしてると自分の絵も数百年後、どこかで修復されるかもしれない。その様な光景を想像して嬉しくも悲しくも思う中、この様にもう２度と会わないだろうと思っていた作品をもう一度自分の手で修復できる事がとても幸運の様に思えた。
